Lately google did something to their ranking algorithm, in the name of providing more relevant search results for it’s users, on official google blog it is estimated 11.8% search results will be affected by this update, put it this way, google thinks about 12% of it’s search results are really bad and need to manipulated. Google started this change almost one year ago, maybe that’s why some of my ranks dropped out of first 10 pages, on the other hand almost all keywords promoted by contextual links are not affected, and a few of them even gained a few positions, it’s almost a sure thing that plain link building loses all it’s attraction, at least in the eye of google.
Now what on earth is plain link building and how do people do it? a large percentage of SEO firms will do this, they will get links from any websites which accept adding links, the content on those sites will never be updated, and most of them are useless, the name of link spamming sites is justified. The latest google update will definitely downgrade most if not all of these sites, any links on them will be affected too.
Maybe a few examples will make it clear. It was quite some time ago, I started promote the keyword, transport chains, of course with old way of link building, lately I figured that every site in the campaign had way too many links, worst yet, those sites had no content at all. In the beginning, the ranking of the keyword in question rise pretty fast, eventually the keyword could be found on first page, this was the case until google made the change. Here is another keyword, chain puller , we put the link in relevant context, not too many plain links have been built, you can imagine how this keyword ranks. So contextual link wins this time, what about future? In fact the only thing matters here is content, as long as you dole out high quality content, your rank will improve over time, since search engines are another kind of readers. How do you do it? Writing articles and building blogs, such as this interesting blog, top smartphones , in the beginning I just post to it casually, lately I added nice stuff left and right, I guess you believe this site won’t be doing too well, much to my surprise that the site actually ranks for quite a few keywords. As far as SEO concerned, creating quality content and article marketing is what we have to do to get great result. Now imagine you have your own blog network, for instance truck winch, you will have the power to push any sites up in search engines.
Remember content is king, you just need to create content, publish and share with people, and put your keywords in the context you’re good to go, this strategy will prevail in short or long term. The virtues, persistence and patience, are essential for your success, long term strategy is required to improve anything of significance, be it your business or search rankings, keep writing, publishing, sharing and creating, you will see the day of success.
